New Hockey Parents
Being a new hockey parent can be daunting. There is a lot of equipment and things to learn. Don't panic! On this page you will find information to help get your Jr. Maple ready to take the ice.
The closer the fit, the more control. Boots should be snug, giving toes just enough wiggle room without pinching. Feet should be immobile with the heel far back in the boot. A solid support is also necessary because staying upright takes a considerable amount of strength.
Right or left?! Sometimes kids are right handed in everything except hockey. When first starting out, if it isn’t obvious, our recommendation is to go with a straight blade stick. Once they start using it a bit, you will know if they are destined to shoot right handed or left handed.
