Travel Hockey
The Jr. Maples travel hockey program includes 8U Mites, 10U Squirts, 12U Peewees, 14U Bantams, and 18U Midgets. All teams participate in the Valley Hockey League (VHL).
Ages
U8 Mites (Ages 5 - 8)
U10 Squirts (Ages 9 & 10)
U12 Peewees (Ages 11 & 12)
U14 Bantams (Ages 13 & 14)

When
Season begins the week of Labor Day and ends in early April.
Where
All practices are at the Graf Rink in Newburyport, MA.
VHL games are scheduled throughout the local region and are typically limited to within 30 miles.
Practices
All travel teams have between 2-3 practices per week (50 min).
All travel team skaters have 1 Skills Practice per week between September and November (50 min).
All goalies have 2 Skills Practice per month at Stop-It Goaltending in Middleton, MA between September and March.
Games
Mite Travel:
- 25 games plus playoffs.
- Games played in the Valley Hockey League (valleyhockeyleague.com).
- Games are half ice, 4-on-4 w/goalies and 2-min shift buzzers.
Mite Full Ice Supplement:
- 15 games plus playoffs.
- Games played in the Valley Hockey League (valleyhockeyleague.com).
Squirt, Peewee & Bantam:
- 35 games plus playoffs.
- Games played in the Valley Hockey League (valleyhockeyleague.com).
Uniforms
Jr. Maples travel team players are required to purchase 1 White Jersey/Socks and 1 Blue Jersey/Socks and Jr. Maples pants shell or player pants. Players can wear their jerseys, shell and socks for multiple years if they still fit and are in good condition.
Players gloves and helmet should be navy blue, but not required.

Tryout Fee: $50/player
Tryout Schedule:
March 15th and March 22nd (Both nights)
U8 - Mites (2016 & 2017)
U10 - Squirts (2014 & 2015)
U12 - Peewee (2012 & 2013)
March 20th and March 22nd (Both nights)
U14 - Bantam (2010 & 2011)
All players will be evaluated and placed on an appropriate Jr. Maples team by the end of April.
Player commitments are due on 5/1/2024 at which time they are required to pay a deposit of $500 to secure their spot on that team. If deposits are not received, that spot will be offered to the next player in line.
